The treacherous East Alligator River is no place for the inexperienced, but Alex Julius has fished it many times over more than 25 years, and the size of the barramundi are testimony to his local knowledge.

Down the Daly River and out to the famous Peron Islands is the barra-filled journey we take with Alex and his friend, former Australian Cricket Captain, Mark Taylor. Also on the Daly, you’ll get a look at the famous NT Barra Classic.

It’s nine hours drive from Darwin to Macka’s Barra Camp on WA’s Ord River. Macka and AJ are good mates and the adventures just keep on coming, accompanied by some great big beautiful barramundi.

The McArthur River and the Sir Edward Pellew Group of beautiful islands near Borroloola are the setting for some real Gulf of Carpentaria action.

From the Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge, near the isolated community of Maningrida, you’ll experience action at a ripper pace.

Together with West Australian champion female angler, Jenni Lerch, AJ tangles with the sprightly billabong barra of Kakadu’s Four Mile Hole.

Tommycut Creek is a tributary of the Mary River.

Alex and his friend, well-known, talented Australian female angler, Leeann Payne, find some great barra fishing.

In Darwin Harbour Alex fished with another great old mate, George Voukolos, and bent rods are bouncing all around the boat.

At Mt Isa in north-west Queensland, Alex tangles with the whopper blue-lipped sooty grunters of Lake Julius. And keen local anglers rescue massive stocked barra, stranded in puddles.
